Scripture Anchors
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Luke 12:34 NIV
“For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
1 Timothy 6:10 NASB
“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.”
1 Timothy 6:17 NLT
The Vitamin
You don’t have to be a millionaire to be considered “rich.”
In many parts of the world, the everyday possessions of the average U.S. citizen would be viewed as wealth.
So pause for a moment and ask yourself:
- What do I value most?
- Is it my car, my clothes, my house, my jewelry?
- Am I attached to the latest gadget or the most popular brand name?
God is the One who provides for us.
He is the One who blesses us with the ability, the resources, the opportunities, and the strength to have anything at all. Yet many believe they earned it solely through their own effort, intelligence, or education.
But Scripture says He provides us with all things for our enjoyment.
There is nothing wrong with having things —
but when the things begin to have you, the balance is broken.
When possessions take priority over God…
When attention is given more to stuff than to the Savior…
When the heart leans toward what is temporary instead of Who is eternal…
Everything is out of place.
The Heart Check
- Is there someone or something that holds your attention more than God?
- Are your valuables sitting in the wrong position in your heart?
- Have you allowed “things” to become your treasure instead of Him?
If God is not first, everything else is out of balance.
