Vitamin 22

Let the Past Pass!

Scripture Anchors

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.”
1 Peter 5:7 NIV

“…casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:5 ESV

“It’s impossible to please God apart from faith… anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that He exists and that He cares enough to respond to those who seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:6 MSG

“God is not human, that He should lie… Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?”
Numbers 23:19 NIV

The Vitamin

Don’t hold on to the past — and don’t get stuck in it.
Mistakes, regrets, “wish I had’ve,” and all the weight of yesterday must be released to God.
Trying to live in the present while gripping the past is exhausting, frustrating, and spiritually limiting.
It keeps you from stepping into your future potential.

Thoughts that aren’t taken captive will take you captive.
If you don’t anchor your mind in God’s truth, you’ll grab every lie the enemy throws your way.
But when you hold onto the promises of the Word, you silence the distractions and steady your steps.

The key to letting go of the past is faith — faith in God’s Word, faith in His character, faith in His promises.
Faith isn’t something you can see, which is why it feels unnatural at first.
But you do your part, and trust Him to do His.

Hope in His faithfulness will bring you out — out of stress, out of fear, out of regret, out of the past.
Even if you’re facing something right now, pass it on to God.
He can carry what you were never meant to hold.

The Heart Check

  • Are you still replaying what God has already forgiven?
  • Are you holding onto thoughts that don’t align with His truth?
  • Are you letting the past define what God is trying to redeem?
  • Are you trusting what you see more than what He said?

Lift your eyes to the hills — your help comes from the Lord (Psalm 121:1–2).
Stand on His Word:
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:12
